Trinity House works for the benefit and safety of all mariners as a General Lighthouse Authority and maritime charity. Our people are central to our reputation as a leading maritime organisation, as is our commitment as an employer to developing the skills, capabilities and potential of our workforce.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a technical team responsible for managing the ongoing maintenance of an estate of 21 historic lighthouses and their associated cottages and out buildings, travelling to many coastal areas and offshore locations in support of the maritime Aids to Navigation. The work is a mix of contractor selection and management whilst also being responsible for minor projects i.e. changing doors and small repair works. The working environments can vary from land based installations to those that are off shore, many requiring access over rough ground. Given the location of the stations, you will be spending significant time away from home, working and living in close proximity of your work colleagues. This, coupled with the physical nature of the duties involved, calls for appropriate levels of health and fitness. Modes of transport to access the installations can be a combination of road transport, boat and helicopter.

  • A good level of experience in a civil/building maintenance role.
  • An appropriate level of practical training in a building related trade enabling a good understanding of construction techniques and practices.
  • A thorough working knowledge of the HSE requirements as relating to the construction and building industries.
  • An understanding of building inspections/surveys leading to specification and cost estimation.

Qualifications

  • A level 3 qualification in building construction/maintenance or related technical discipline.
  • Full Driving Licence.
