Hey – I’m Jaysen. I run The Corporate Law Academy or ‘TCLA’. It\’s the largest forum in the legal profession.
It shouldn\’t matter where you come from, what your background is, or what connections you have. You should still be able to access the highest quality of information and skills training, so you can achieve whatever you want to in life. That\’s our goal at TCLA. And this starts in our forum.
Every month, over 75,000 aspiring lawyers turn to the TCLA forum, where more than 2,000 new posts are shared each week. We feel very lucky so many aspiring lawyers use the TCLA forum, and we hire Community Assistants to make sure they are met with care, support and advice.
The Community
Our forum is free for anyone to access.
It’ll be your role to share your advice, knowledge and support with the incoming generation of future lawyers through the forum. This includes university students, graduates, international applicants, and career changers. The most important thing is that you write well, care about helping people, and you have significant experience in the law firm process, because this role is about providing support and rooting for people in their journey. You will also be invited to help with ad hoc tasks, such as 1-2-1 calls and live classes.
The unique part of this role is that it\’s remote. If you want to balance this role alongside your studies or work, that\’s fine. But you need to be able to prioritise four hours a day in the forum/WhatsApp community.
You will:
- Welcome every new member to the forum
- Write posts with detailed advice and support to aspiring lawyers
- Go above and beyond to find the answers that students need – including reaching out to trainees/associates for help
- Respond to all unanswered threads
- Start threads to kick off forum discussions
- Collate threads and produce resources
- Provide advice and responses in our WhatsApp community
- Help out with ad hoc tasks like virtual classes and in-person events
You’ll be a future trainee, trainee or associate who has plenty of experience in the law firm process applications. You’ll typically be someone who has completed multiple vacation schemes and/or secured several training contract offers.
An ideal candidate has:
- Exceptional written communication skills
- Significant experience applying, interviewing and completing vacation schemes with law firms
- A strong understanding of the law firm process, from application strategy to interview skills
- A desire to go above and beyond to help aspiring lawyers
- An understanding of how to manage your time, update the team, and ‘manage upwards’
- A growth mindset – you’ll understand that you might not know everything now, but you’ll have the willingness to work it out
- A willingness to work with speed and intensity
Why join us?
We work hard because we care about having a lasting impact. It’s fun to create something that never existed before – and you’ll be front and centre. You’ll be pushed outside your comfort zone, but for the right person, this is so worthwhile.
The more you want to get involved, the more opportunities there will be. We’re curious and constantly learning, and we’ll give you the tools to support your self improvement goals.
You’ll be in an environment where you’re appreciated and valued. Our most common feedback is the best part of working for TCLA is the team. We work hard, care about what we do and care about each other.
