About the Role

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Maths department, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning and achievement.
  • Develop, implement and review a coherent Maths curriculum that meets statutory requirements and supports excellent progress for all pupils.
  • Monitor student progress and outcomes, using data effectively to drive improvement and close attainment gaps.
  • Line‑manage Maths staff, promoting high expectations, professional development and effective practice.
  • Ensure consistent, high‑quality teaching through lesson observation, coaching, moderation and quality assurance.
  • Oversee assessment, feedback and exam preparation to maximise student achievement at all key stages.
  • Manage departmental resources and budget effectively to support learning and value for money.
  • Contribute to whole‑school priorities, policies and improvement planning through middle leadership.
  • Promote a positive learning culture within Maths, fostering engagement, resilience and high aspirations among students.
