The Contemporary Chorus Ltd is seeking a dynamic and talented Choir Director to lead our vibrant choir. The ideal candidate will have a passion for pop music and a strong background in music education, vocal coaching, or choir direction. This role involves leading 30 rehearsals year‑round, delivering the required repertoire, following the established rehearsal structure, interfacing with our members, and building a cohesive and supportive community within the choir. This position is to run two choirs per week in the evenings (the nights are up for discussion but limited to Monday‑Thursday). The choirs will start running April 2026, but paid training will commence in January.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead rehearsals, ensuring each session is engaging, productive, and aligned with the choir’s objectives.
  • Deliver the required repertoire with attention to detail and artistic expression.
  • Follow the established rehearsal structure to ensure consistency and progression.
  • Interface professionally and positively with choir members, creating an inclusive and supportive environment.
  • Build and maintain a coherent and connected community within the choir, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual support among members.
  • Be a competent singer with a strong vocal ability.
  • Be competent on the piano, sufficient to support choir rehearsals (reading vocal parts, accompanying with chords).
