Our Client is seeking a partner to lead their client relationships and service delivery in the Payments and Banking sectors. You will drive growth within their financial services practice, developing new business opportunities, delivering high-quality advisory services, and leading a team of professionals. Your deep understanding of the payments and banking landscape will be key to supporting their clients through digital transformation, regulatory compliance, innovation in payments technologies, and strategic market positioning. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader with a proven track record in Payments & Banking to make a significant impact on the future direction of the firm’s FS practice in Europe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and manage relationships with C-suite executives, senior decision-makers, and regulators in leading banks, financial institutions, fintech, and payments companies. Serve as a trusted advisor on complex strategic, regulatory, and operational issues.
  • Business Development: Drive business development activities, developing new opportunities and expanding relationships with existing clients. Lead the identification of new trends in banking and payments, positioning the firm to capture growth in these sectors.
  • Strategic Advisory: Provide high-level strategic guidance on key topics such as digital banking transformation, PSD2, open banking, payment infrastructures, digital currencies, blockchain, regulatory compliance, and customer experience innovations.
  • Industry Thought Leadership: Represent the firm at major industry conferences, forums, and media outlets. Publish thought leadership articles, whitepapers, and market insights to enhance the firm’s profile within the European financial services and payments industry.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead and mentor senior managers and directors within the FS Payments & Banking team. Foster a high-performance culture by investing in professional development, providing guidance, and encouraging collaboration across teams.
  • Growth & Strategy Execution: Play an integral role in shaping the European FS Payments & Banking strategy. Contribute to developing the vision and strategic direction for the practice, ensuring alignment with the firm’s overall objectives and driving sustainable growth.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across the firm’s global financial services network, leveraging expertise in areas like risk management, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and digital transformation to deliver integrated solutions to clients.

Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience (minimum of 12‑15 years) in Payments, Banking, or Financial Services advisory, with a focus on digital transformation, strategic change, and regulatory challenges.
  • Proven success at a senior leadership level in a consulting, advisory, or strategy role within a top-tier consultancy or financial services firm.
  • In-depth knowledge of the European payments ecosystem, banking regulations (e.g., PSD2, MiFID II), fintech innovations, open banking, and emerging technologies like blockchain and AI.
  • Demonstrable expertise in leading large, complex engagements with financial services clients, including strategic initiatives and regulatory compliance projects.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a proven track record in business development, securing high-value client engagements, and driving revenue growth.
  • Strong network of relationships with key stakeholders in the financial services, payments, and fintech sectors across Europe.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with a passion for developing and mentoring teams.
