Job Description
Microsoft BC Technical Consultant
The Consultancy Group are currently supporting a £1bn turnover, market-leading technology business who are investing heavily in their ERP capabilities and are seeking a highly skilled Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Technical Consultant to be part of their Digital Transformation Journey.
The BC Technical Consultant will be responsible for the technical design, development, and optimisation of their Microsoft Business Central environment. You will work closely with functional consultants, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver robust customisations, integrations, and technical enhancements that align with strategic business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications and solution designs.
- Configure, extend, and customise BC using AL language, extensions, and APIs.
- Develop and maintain integrations between BC and other enterprise systems (CRM, finance tools, data platforms, etc.).
- Lead technical workshops, solution design sessions, and proof-of-concept builds.
- Ensure system architecture supports scalability, performance, and security requirements.
- Conduct code reviews, enforce development best practices, and maintain technical documentation.
- Monitor Microsoft release cycles and plan for system upgrades and new feature adoption.
- Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimisation.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver high-quality solutions on time and to specification.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Technical Consultant (or NAV equivalent).
- Strong proficiency in AL language and the BC development environment (Visual Studio Code, extensions model).
- Solid understanding of BC architecture, API integrations, and data structures.
- Experience with Azure services, Power Platform (Power Automate, Power BI), and web services.
- Familiarity with version control and DevOps tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Git).
