We are partnering with a leading fintech player to appoint a Director of Business Growth & Strategic Partnerships. This is a unique opportunity for a commercially driven leader with deep experience in the SME fintech ecosystem to shape and scale a fast-growing embedded payments business. Our client is looking for a senior operator who combines the strategic rigour of top-tier consulting with the commercial instincts of a high-growth fintech. The successful candidate will drive strategic partnerships, expand the SME client footprint, and play a key role in shaping the direction of the embedded business unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of partnership and go-to-market strategies targeting the SME segment.
  • Identify, negotiate, and manage strategic alliances with key players in the fintech and financial services ecosystem.
  • Own the full partnership lifecycle, from prospecting and deal structuring to onboarding and ongoing relationship management.
  • Act as a commercial thought partner to the leadership team, helping to refine the embedded finance strategy and influence product-market fit.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across product, engineering, marketing, legal, and operations to deliver best-in-class embedded finance solutions.
  • Support the ongoing growth and scale of the embedded finance business unit, contributing to team culture, hiring, and strategic direction.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrable track record of success in business development, strategic partnerships, or commercial leadership roles, ideally within fintech or financial infrastructure.
  • Background in management consulting (Big 4 or equivalent) with additional hands-on experience in a scaling fintech or technology-led financial services company.
  • Deep understanding of the SME market and the role of embedded finance in unlocking value for partners and end-users.
  • Strong negotiation skills, commercial acumen, and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action – comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management capabilities across all levels.
