Clerk of Works job based in Woking, covering residential and refurbishment sites across London, Bristol, and the South of England. This hands-on role involves inspecting projects to ensure high-quality delivery, compliance with drawings, specifications, building regulations, and fire safety standards. Salary £50,000 - £65,000 + flexible working and benefits.
They are a well-established property and construction specialist delivering Project Management, Building Surveying, Fire Protection, and Health & Safety services across public and private sector projects. Role & Responsibilities
- Perform regular site inspections on residential and refurbishment projects
- Check contractors' compliance with specifications, drawings, regulations, and quality standards
- Review fire safety measures and installations, including fire doors, fire stopping, sprinklers, masonry, and drylining
- Complete snagging inspections and produce clear defect reports prior to project completion
- Maintain accurate digital records of inspections and findings
- Provide guidance and advice to project teams on quality and best practice
- Liaise with design teams, consultants, and stakeholders; attend project meetings as required
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years' construction experience; technical or trade background preferred
- Experience with higher-risk buildings or façade remediation advantageous
- Strong knowledge of fire safety regulations and guidance (e.g., Approved Document B, BS 9999, BS 9991)
- Professional memberships such as ICWCI, MCIOB, RICS, or IFE beneficial but not essential
- Fire door inspection experience advantageous
- Confident communicator with the ability to manage multiple sites independently
