Job Overview

Are you a structural engineer with several years of experience who would enjoy the challenge of complex temporary works design? Would you like to work in a fast-paced, contractor-led environment and are you good at thinking outside of the box? This reputable design consultancy is the design arm of a large main contractor. They are an Employee Owned Trust so their people really count and this enables you to get the EOT bonus benefits. They also pay your travel to and from the office!

The work includes lots of non-typical solution-driven temporary works design in specialist areas, such as major building façade retentions and various complicated London building schemes.

Responsibilities

  • Design complex temporary works solutions including major building façade retentions, hoardings, barriers, formwork, scaffolding hoists, fabrication design, connection design, Cat 3 checks, and heavy temporary works.
  • Provide design for large building schemes on complex sites, working closely with contractors and conducting site visits.
  • Leverage innovative and non‑typical solutions to solve engineering challenges.

Qualifications

  • 2.1 degree from a good university preferred.
  • Several years of design experience, either in permanent or temporary works.
  • Strong communication skills and a forward-thinking, flexible, business-savvy mindset.
  • Problem-solving capability with adaptability to absorb new information.
  • Proficiency in Ideastatica, RFEM, or Tedds is advantageous.
