We are working exclusively with a fast-growing, highly respected client in the construction sector. Known for delivering complex, large-scale residential and mixed-use developments, they have built a reputation for quality, innovation, and excellence. As they expand their pipeline of projects, they are looking to strengthen their technical leadership team with the addition of a skilled Senior Technical Manager.
About the Role
This is a senior-level appointment for a technically-minded individual who can take ownership of projects at critical design stages. You will play a pivotal role in driving forward the technical delivery of live schemes and ensuring design intent is maintained through to construction. The role is ideal for someone who thrives in both a site and design environment and understands the challenges of interfacing between pre-construction and delivery teams. You will also have the opportunity to grow your own technical team whilst working on the preconstruction stages of new schemes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of projects from Stage 3 onwards
- Manage the coordination between design consultants, internal teams, and delivery partners
- Ensure design outputs align with project goals, compliance, and statutory requirements
- Oversee the Gateway 2 process and associated documentation
- Resolve technical queries and issues during the design and construction phases
- Provide strategic input at design meetings and technical reviews
- Work closely with commercial and construction teams to align design and procurement
- Lead technical risk reviews and support mitigation strategies
- Monitor compliance with building regulations and industry standards
- Appoint and manage growth of the technical team in the near future
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Technical Manager or Senior Design Manager (or equivalent) in construction
- Background working for a developer or main contractor is essential
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with Stage 3/4 design
- In-depth knowledge of Gateway 2 processes, BSR, BSA and compliance standards
- Demonstrable experience delivering residential or mixed-use projects
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and manage technical risks
- Relevant qualifications in construction, architecture, or engineering
