Responsibilities
- The Plumber will carry out instructed duties under the supervision of the Works Facilities Manager or designated representative.
- All works will be carried out in accordance with appropriate Statutes, Codes, Regulations, Standards and Departmental Procedures.
- The Plumber will work as part of a team or on his/her own, having due regard for Lone Working procedures.
- You will be expected to maintain a professional and helpful attitude working to the College values.
- Duties are varied and include general maintenance and repair of College properties, infrastructure and utilities, hot and cold water supplies, roof drainage systems, general drainage, heating systems, ventilation, fixtures and fittings, mechanical devices and controls, providing assistance to contractors, and carrying out regular checks and inspections of various properties and services.
- You will work with other trades in support of their work and provide assistance to contractors on site.
- You may be required to work from various locations across the College estate.
- Maintenance associated with Water Hygiene, including shower head cleaning, running infrequently used outlets and descaling.
- Carry out new plumbing installations, testing and commissioning.
- Carry out inspections, testing, maintenance and repair of existing plumbing installations.
- Carry out cleaning, de-scaling and unblocking of College plumbing services.
- Perform minor general building works, repairs and maintenance in connection with plumbing works.
- Interpreting drawings, manuals, maps and schematics.
- Provide and update basic written records of installations and maintenance requirements to the Works Facilities Manager.
- Cooperate with other trades to ensure specification, legislation and policies are met.
- Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and service of plumbing systems and fixtures.
- Monitor Building Management System (BMS) as necessary.
- Provide assistance to contractors, consultants and suppliers regarding access and site procedures.
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks as directed.
- Carry out regular inspections of boiler rooms and plant rooms.
- Complete work order time sheets and logbook records as requested.
- Follow Health and Safety policy and procedures including PPE, risk assessments and safe working practices.
- Attend meetings, training sessions and courses as required.
Contract/Progression
This is a temporary position. A permanent role may be offered for the right person.
