Role Description
Working with a specialist civil engineering subcontractor focused on Transmission & Distribution infrastructure delivery, providing heavy civil packages across cable systems, substations, and wider grid reinforcement projects throughout the UK. The role involves full responsibility for site-based delivery of civil works, working closely with the principal contractor and wider project team to ensure safe, efficient and high-quality execution, supporting continued growth.
Day‑to‑Day Duties (illustrative)
- Managing day‑to‑day site operations across heavy civils packages
- Overseeing earthworks, ducting, drainage, foundations and reinforced concrete works
- Supervising subcontractors and direct labour on site
- Ensuring works are delivered in line with programme, quality and safety standards
- Coordinating with project managers, engineers and client representatives
- Managing permits, RAMS and site documentation
- Driving HSEQ performance and ensuring compliance with industry standards
- Supporting progress reporting and resolving on‑site issues
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years' experience as a Site Manager within heavy civil engineering
- Essential experience delivering heavy civil works within power/energy projects (T&D, substations, cable routes or similar)
- Strong understanding of earthworks, duct installation, drainage, and concrete structures
- SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid certification required
- Strong knowledge of HSEQ requirements within live construction environments
- Ability to drive programme and coordinate multiple workstreams on site
