We’re looking for an experienced Drainage Engineer to lead technically challenging projects within a growing environmental consultancy.

Role

You will lead the delivery of drainage and flood risk projects from inception through to completion, providing expert advice on surface water and wastewater management. Working closely with clients, planners and multidisciplinary teams, you will develop practical, sustainable solutions while ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Producing drainage strategies, technical reports and hydraulic modelling
  • Designing Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
  • Preparing technical drawings and supporting documentation
  • Managing projects and client relationships
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers
  • Preparing fee proposals and contributing to business development
  • Keeping up to date with UK planning policy and industry best practice

About You

You should have:

  • Experience delivering drainage and flood risk projects within a UK consultancy
  • Strong knowledge of UK planning policy, SuDS and drainage design
  • Experience using software such as MicroDrainage, Causeway Flow+, Flood Modeller, GIS or AutoCAD
  • Excellent technical report writing skills
  • Strong project management and client‑facing experience
  • A relevant degree in Civil, Environmental or Water Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Professional membership or progress towards chartership would be advantageous.
