Responsibilities
- Assist with the supervision and management of building control projects to ensure compliance with the Building Act, Building Regulations and associated legislation.
- Carry out plan examinations, review technical drawings and calculations, and provide detailed feedback to applicants and stakeholders.
- Undertake site inspections across a variety of construction projects at different stages of development.
- Identify contraventions and support enforcement activities where required.
- Liaise with builders, contractors, architects, surveyors and other professionals regarding compliance matters.
- Respond to enquiries from members of the public and stakeholders relating to building control matters.
- Support the delivery of service improvement initiatives, fee recovery and performance targets.
- Maintain accurate records and update internal IT systems accordingly.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments and external agencies where necessary.
Qualifications
- Previous experience within Building Control, Building Regulations or Construction Compliance.
- Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and associated legislation.
- Experience carrying out site inspections and reviewing plans/drawings.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and work independently.
- Relevant industry qualifications such as CABE, CIOB, RICS or Registered Building Inspector status are desirable.
