A leading international engineering and construction contractor is seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to join its UK business. This is an opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of major infrastructure and geotechnical projects across the UK, working within a highly respected technical and operational environment. The successful candidate will lead estimating activities across complex tenders, manage estimating teams, and work closely with operational, commercial, and technical stakeholders to develop winning bid strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the estimating function for major infrastructure and geotechnical projects.
  • Prepare and oversee detailed cost estimates, pricing strategies, and tender submissions.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary estimating teams to ensure timely and accurate bid delivery.
  • Review project risks, methodologies, programmes, and commercial opportunities.
  • Liaise with clients, supply chain partners, and internal delivery teams during tender stages.
  • Support strategic bid decisions and contribute to business growth objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement within estimating processes and systems.
  • Mentor and develop junior estimators and team members.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in an Estimating Manager or senior estimating leadership role.
  • Strong background within heavy civils, infrastructure, and/or geotechnical engineering projects.
  • Experience managing and leading estimating teams within a contractor environment.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of complex construction contracts.
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline (preferred).

Desirable Experience

  • Experience on large‑scale infrastructure projects including transport, marine, tunnelling, foundations, ground engineering, or specialist civil engineering works.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • Experience working within international or tier‑one contractor environments.
