Principal / Associate Director | Flood Risk & Drainage

Are you an experienced Flood Risk & Drainage professional looking for the opportunity to lead complex, high-profile projects while helping shape the future of a growing consultancy?
We're working exclusively with a highly respected, independent environmental consultancy that has built an outstanding reputation for technical excellence, innovation and collaborative working. With continued growth across its environmental disciplines, they're now looking to appoint a Principal or Associate Director to strengthen their Flood Risk & Drainage team.
This is a senior role offering the chance to take ownership of technically challenging projects across sectors including residential, renewable energy, aviation and major infrastructure, while mentoring talented colleagues and contributing to business growth.
The Role
You’ll lead the delivery of Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies from early feasibility through planning and detailed design. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you’ll advise clients on flood risk constraints and opportunities, develop sustainable drainage solutions, and support the successful delivery of complex development projects.
Alongside technical leadership, you’ll play an important role in project management, client relationships, bid support and developing junior members of the team.
We're Looking For Someone With
- Significant experience delivering Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies.
- Strong knowledge of UK planning policy, flood risk guidance and SuDS design.
- Experience leading complex development projects and managing client relationships.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
- Working knowledge of InfoDrainage (or equivalent), AutoCAD and GIS.
- Commercial awareness, including experience supporting bids and business development.
Experience with TUFLOW, Flood Modeller, FEH or river restoration would be advantageous but isn't essential.
