Role Overview
I’m currently recruiting on behalf of a growing multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy that is looking to appoint a Civil Engineering Technician to join its Bristol team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Technician with experience in civil infrastructure design who is looking to develop their career within a collaborative and supportive consultancy environment. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and specialists on a wide range of development and infrastructure projects, contributing to schemes from planning through to detailed design. Based in a modern Bristol city centre office, you’ll be part of a close-knit team delivering high-quality engineering solutions across a variety of sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing CAD and technical support to engineering teams.
- Producing and managing drawings using external reference information (Xrefs).
- Designing detailed highway schemes for S38, S278 and S184 technical applications.
- Preparing signage scheme designs.
- Producing development access layouts to support planning applications in accordance with Local Highway Authority requirements, Manual for Streets (MfS) and DMRB guidance.
- Assisting with the design of preliminary drainage strategies and associated calculations.
- Preparing catchment plans and drainage layouts.
- Calculating and drawing visibility splays.
- Working collaboratively with engineers and multidisciplinary teams across a variety of projects.
- Undertaking occasional site visits when required.
About You
- Previous experience in a Civil Engineering Technician or CAD Technician role.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and civil engineering design software.
- Experience producing technical drawings and design packages for development infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of highway design standards, including S38, S278 and S184 agreements.
- An understanding of drainage design principles and calculations.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn and develop professionally.
