We're partnering with an established UK civil engineering contractor who are expanding their pre-construction team. They're looking to appoint multiple Estimators across experience levels to support a growing pipeline of infrastructure and earthworks projects.
About The Role
This is a critical pre-construction position responsible for developing accurate cost plans and bids that support successful project wins. You'll be involved in the full estimating cycle - from early enquiry and scope review through to final bid submission - working closely with technical teams, suppliers and the supply chain to influence commercially sound outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost assessments for materials, labour, plant and subcontract packages.
- Analyse technical drawings, specifications and works information to define scope clearly.
- Lead the tender process, ensuring estimates are internally aligned and submitted on time.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing.
- Produce clear documentation and handover materials to support project teams and contribute to continuous improvement in estimating standards.
Your Profile
- A background in civil engineering, infrastructure or earthworks estimating with a track record of producing first-principles cost models.
- Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail and commercial awareness.
- Proficiency in industry-standard estimating tools and high competence in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience reviewing tender documents and managing bid inputs end-to-end.
Qualifications & Desirable Experience
- Typically 3+ years' experience in estimating within civil engineering, earthworks or similar sectors.
- Experience on large-scale or technically complex schemes and an understanding of UK specification and cost drivers are advantageous.
- Professional or academic background in civil engineering, quantity surveying, construction management or equivalent.
