Are you a Utilities Installation Engineer / Supervisor looking to join a large civil engineering project in London?
This is a standout opportunity for an experienced utilities professional who enjoys combining technical expertise with on‑site leadership.
You'll play a key role in delivering essential infrastructure across non‑potable water networks, fire mains, and irrigation systems.
The role blends hands‑on electrofusion and butt‑welding with day‑to‑day supervision, giving you ownership of work packages, influence over quality standards, and visibility across the wider project delivery cycle.
If you're looking for a position where your technical skill is valued, your leadership is recognised, and your contribution directly shapes the success of major utilities installations, this role offers that balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality installation, electrofusion welding, and butt‑welding of PE pipework across non‑potable water, fire main, and irrigation systems.
- Lead small teams or work gangs, ensuring safe working practices, correct welding procedures, and consistent productivity.
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, technical specifications, and approved method statements with accuracy and confidence.
- Carry out inspections, pressure testing, and produce clear, reliable QA documentation and as‑built records.
- Coordinate daily activities, materials, equipment, and site logistics to maintain programme momentum.
- Identify technical issues early, propose practical solutions, and raise design queries when required.
- Maintain strong communication with project engineers, site managers, and subcontractors to ensure alignment and smooth delivery.
- Champion safety and compliance, promoting best practice and maintaining a tidy, controlled working environment.
- Support continuous improvement by contributing ideas, highlighting efficiencies, and mentoring less experienced operatives.
Requirements
- Proven background in utilities installation (water, fire, irrigation) within a civil engineering or construction environment.
- Demonstrable competency in electrofusion and butt‑welding of PE pipe systems.
- Experience supervising teams or leading work fronts, with a focus on quality and safety.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan ahead, coordinate resources and manage multiple tasks.
- Confident communicator able to work collaboratively with engineers, managers, and site personnel.
- Understanding of site safety protocols and relevant certifications (CSCS, EUSR, Water Hygiene) advantageous.
- Comfortable working in a hybrid capacity: combining hands‑on technical delivery with supervisory responsibilities.
