The Conservative Campaign Headquarters is looking for a Media Monitoring Officer to join our Communications team. In this vital role, you will be at the heart of our media operations—tracking, analysing, and reporting on coverage across broadcast, print, and online platforms. Your insights will help ensure Conservative MPs, Shadow Cabinet members, and Party staff are kept fully informed of the latest developments and narratives shaping the political landscape.

Areas of responsibility

  • Use digital tools for media monitoring, summaries, and coverage reports
  • Monitor key media outlets, including during morning, evening and late cycles, and flag relevant developments to Press Officers
  • Understand the media landscape; track where political narratives are developing, including real-time developments
  • Support delivery of daily summaries, social media content, and urgent developments
  • Support the Leader of the Opposition and Shadow Cabinet events and visits
  • Ensure high accuracy in monitoring outputs, summaries, and transcripts
  • Share relevant monitoring insights with other teams (Campaigns, Research) across daytime and evening shifts
  • Assist the wider Press Office with rapid rebuttal, quote drafting and content creation

Other

  • Assist with urgent press handling during late hours as required by the needs of the team and the Party
  • Provide holiday cover for other members of the team in accordance with the holiday cover schedule
  • Undertake weekend working and early morning shifts as part of a rota
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with key stakeholders
  • Keep any professional qualifications up to date

Professional experience and qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience of developing and producing high quality content
  • Excellent attention to detail and exceptional written ability
  • Highly organised and self-motivated
  • Strong communication and transcribing skills
  • Excellent time management and the ability to prioritise
  • The ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • A commitment to the Conservative Party and to supporting the programme of Renewal.
  • Some experience of working in a political environment
  • Experience with social media
  • Prior political experience not essential however, a sound knowledge of current affairs and political awareness is essential

  • Excellent relationship building and influencing skills with the ability to tailor message and style appropriately
  • Creative, with a strong ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to problems and opportunities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to organise and prioritise a demanding workload personally

  • Whilst not essential, the ideal candidate will also have good digital skills, including video and graphics production, as well as social media management
