The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

  • The main activities the Senior Project Officer will undertake are as follows:
  • Leading volunteers undertaking practical environmental projects such as tree planting, pond construction, woodland management, control of invasive species, and path construction.
  • Planning and delivering conservation work across a network of nature reserves and country parks funded by NIEA.
  • Promoting TCV and recruiting volunteers to become involved in TCV's practical projects.
  • Liaising with schools, community groups and landowners to find environmental projects, costing the project and agreeing timescale and cost with the site owner.
  • Compiling and managing a budget, ensuring cost effectiveness of all projects and generating income through project work.
  • Collect and maintain records and photographs from all projects to document work and complete funders progress reports.
  • Maintaining good standards of health & safety and carry out risk assessment in relation to working environments and people.
  • Maintain and service TCV resources, including premises, IT equipment, vehicles, tools, project materials and PPE.

Experience and Qualifications

Applicants should have experience of practical environmental work, horticulture or landscaping.

The Senior Project Officer's main role is leading volunteers to complete a range of practical environmental work and they will need relevant experience to lead and support volunteers.

Experience and understanding of working with volunteers, community involvement and the charity/NGO sector is also important.

There is no specific qualification required, but a qualification in horticulture or environment such as NVQ, HND or BTEC is helpful as are certificates of competence in using equipment such as brushcutter or lawnmower.

To fulfil the role, you must be resident in the UK and have the right to work in the UK.
