Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced, confident and passionate Deputy Nursery Manager to support the leadership of our friendly 60‑place nursery in Ilford. The role is a full‑time, permanent position with a competitive salary of £30,000 per annum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Nursery Manager in leading, managing and motivating the nursery team to deliver high‑quality early years care and education.
  • Assist with the smooth day‑to‑day operation of the 60‑place setting, ensuring high standards across all rooms.
  • Ensure full compliance with the EYFS statutory framework, safeguarding procedures, health and safety requirements and Ofsted standards.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting a professional, supportive and child‑centred team culture.
  • Support staff rotas, ratios, room organisation, supervisions and ongoing training needs.
  • Monitor the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, helping children make good progress.
  • Build positive relationships with parents, carers and external professionals.
  • Support occupancy, enquiries, show‑rounds and the overall smooth running of the nursery.
  • Maintain accurate records, policies and procedures in line with statutory and company requirements.
  • Help promote a safe, inclusive and engaging environment where children feel secure, valued and inspired.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Room Leader or senior early years practitioner.
  • Minimum Level 3 childcare qualification; higher qualifications desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding and Ofsted expectations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • A warm, approachable and professional manner with children, families and colleagues.
  • Confident supporting a busy nursery environment, including staffing, compliance and parent partnerships.
  • A genuine passion for high‑quality early years education and continuous improvement.
