Overview
Associate Academy
Breaking into an industry can be difficult, and we recognise the challenges people face in securing entry-level roles in the UK IT and SAP job market. That’s why we launched our Associate Academy, a 12-month programme dedicated to providing a range of career opportunities and developing our future leaders. The Associate Academy blends classroom-based activities and hands-on experiential learning to develop your skills in your chosen pathway. The confirmed options for the next intake will be announced once applications open in early 2026.

As an Associate at The Config Team, you’ll receive comprehensive support and training as you progress in your chosen career pathway. Traditionally, the following pathways have been offered:
- SAP Functional Consulting
- SAP Technical Consulting
- SAP Project Management
- Project Management Office (PMO)

SAP Functional Consultant
- Work on global customer projects to learn best business processes and how to configure SAP IT solutions.
- Understand and test system functionality across a range of different SAP IT solutions and customer industries.
- Become a trusted advisor on SAP technology.
- Suited for analytical people who enjoy working with IT in customer-facing roles.
SAP Technical Consultant
- Become a software developer for SAP programs.
- Create system changes and bespoke solutions through programming.
- Create innovative SAP software programs.
- Ideal for people with a passion for software development, programming and innovation.
SAP Project Manager
- Be mentored on how to deliver SAP technology projects by Senior Project Managers.
- Organise teams and practice project management methodologies to ensure project success.
- Work to help support real-time SAP technology projects for global customers.
- A role for people with strong organisational, stakeholder management and time-management skills who enjoy customer facing interactions.
Project Management Office (PMO) Analyst
- Support Project Managers with the delivery of SAP projects by providing project support and governance.
- Assist with the successful delivery of projects across various departments and uphold high project standards through best practice methods.
- Work on continuous business improvement activities.
- Suited for detail-oriented, well organised and process-driven people.
We operate a hybrid working model, which means a mixture of homeworking, office and customer site visits. Successful candidates must possess a driver’s licence, live within a commutable distance of our Skelmersdale, Lancashire office and expect to spend 2-3 days in the office per week.
