General Information about the NW London Training Hub
The NW London Training Hub (NWL TH) is a consortium of the eight local borough training hubs: Brent, Central London, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, West London across the geography of NWL. The Confederation Hillingdon CIC holds the prime contract with NHS England (NHSE) and we operate a hub-and-spoke delivery model which reflects a preference for a borough-based approach. Our strategic direction is coordinated by our central management team, which manages day to day business operations. Our local borough subcontract holders and our Clinical Senate provide strategic overview, ensuring alignment with national priorities. Monthly operational group meetings with Locality Training Hubs (THs) enable us to stay connected to PCN and practice needs. NWL TH operates within the framework of the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan, the NHS England Workforce Development Workplan, and the NHS 10-Year Plan, embedding their principles into our local delivery. These national strategies emphasise train, retain, and reform, the creation of skilled multi-professional teams, and the development of neighbourhood health models to reduce health inequalities and improve population health outcomes. Our work directly supports these ambitions by delivering contractual KPIs and addressing the workforce, training, and educational needs of primary care.
Job Summary
The NWL Training Hub is an organisation providing an enabling training and workforce function to the primary care workforce of the NW London geography. NWL’s population is complex and very varied, as is its workforce, which is also very dispersed, reflecting the fact that it includes over 330 autonomous GP practices. In this fixed term role, the Advanced Clinical Practice Coordinator will support the ACP workforce readiness across NWL. The postholder will help coordinate ACP oversight processes, maintain central workforce records, and assist in monitoring governance and professional standards to ensure ACP practice remains safe, evidence-based and aligned with emerging national requirements. A core part of the role will be supporting the mapping and assessment of ACP maturity in each of the eight NWL boroughs, maintaining an up-to-date register of Advanced Practitioners, and assisting in the development and coordination of borough-level and system-wide improvement plans. The Coordinator will also play a key part in supporting clinicians working in advanced roles to progress through the E-Portfolio or accreditation routes by providing information, coordination and practical support. The postholder will help facilitate ACP communication channels and support the running of the ACP Forum, ensuring the dissemination of updates, resources and good practice across NWL.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support Governance, Oversight and Assurance
- Support the implementation of governance processes to monitor ACP practice, supervision arrangements and professional standards.
- Assist in collating information for governance reports to ensure ACP activity across NWL General Practice is accurately reflected.
- Help coordinate data collection related to scope of practice, competency, and supervision.
- Workforce Mapping, Monitoring & Registration Preparedness
- Maintain and continually update a central register of all Qualified Advanced Practitioners (APs) and clinicians working in advanced roles across NWL General Practices.
- Coordinate the ACP Maturity Matrix process across NWL boroughs, including collection of evidence, organisation of meetings, and collation of outcomes.
- Support the production of borough and system-wide action plans based on maturity matrix findings.
- Professional Development & Progression
- Provide coordination support to APs undertaking the E-Portfolio route, including signposting, information sharing and progress tracking.
- Work with the NWL Training Hub to support clear processes for trainee onboarding, training pathways and progression milestones.
- Assist in identifying training needs by gathering data and feedback from practices and borough leads.
- System Leadership & Engagement (Coordinator Support)
- Coordinate the development and running of the ACP Forum.
- Support the creation and maintenance of ACP communication channels, newsletters and information updates.
- Act as a point of contact for borough leads, PCNs and practices, signposting ACP-related information and helping operationalise guidance provided by the Training Hub.
Person Specification
- Clinician with evidence of good understanding of Advanced Clinical Practice
- Understanding of national ACP frameworks, digital badges and future registration requirements.
- Understanding of NHS regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements
- Experience of working in primary care or a healthcare training environment
- Highly organised and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities and deliver programmes on time and to a high standard
- Demonstrated experience supporting or coordinating advanced Health Care Professionals
- Experience working across multiple stakeholders, e.g. PCNs, borough teams, Training Hubs, ICB
- Experience supporting professional development, supervision pathways, or training programmes
- Experience of managing risks and reporting
- Understanding of confidentiality, GDPR, and record-keeping standards
- Strong understanding of Advanced Clinical Practice frameworks, scope of practice, supervision and competence requirements.
- Ability to interpret and apply governance tools such as the AP Maturity Matrix
- Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to maintain central registers, track workforce progress and monitor compliance
