We are looking to appoint a highly effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills to provide strong education welfare support across our Trust. The Education Welfare Officer will be responsible for the operation and delivery of the Trust's in-house attendance strategies, working closely with families and school leaders to improve student engagement and raise attendance levels.
Responsibilities
- Lead the operation and delivery of the Trust's in-house attendance strategies.
- Work closely with families and school leaders to improve student engagement and raise attendance levels.
- Remove barriers to education through targeted family casework and statutory intervention.
- Lead on raising attendance levels for persistent and severely absent pupils.
- Use a nurturing, “Safeguarding First” approach and demonstrate the Trust's mindset of Unconditional Positive Regard.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Highly skilled specialist practitioner with expertise in removing barriers to education through targeted family casework and statutory intervention.
- Knowledge and experience to lead on raising attendance levels for persistent and severely absent pupils.
- Willingness to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers, online searches and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
- Appointment will be dependent upon further health, safeguarding and attendance checks.
- Post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; applicants must declare all convictions and cautions unless protected under DBS filtering rules.
- Applicants who are added to a Barred List will be ineligible to work in Regulated Activity with children.
- The post holder is required to promote and safeguard the welfare of pupils by adhering to and ensuring compliance with the school's safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
