Gloucester

Want to lead a team without becoming a spreadsheet-and-meetings manager? This one keeps your hands on the work.

Our client is a fast-growing advanced composites manufacturer supplying aerospace, automotive, defence and space. They need a Manufacturing Engineering Lead to run the manufacturing engineering and tooling teams at their Gloucester plant, while still delivering technical work yourself.

You'll:

  • Lead, develop and plan the workload of the ME and Tooling teams
  • Own the plant's manufacturing engineering plan, balancing Operations' priorities with Engineering's standards
  • Take new products from design into production through APQP, PFMEA and readiness checks
  • Write the methods, routings and process documentation that build parts
  • Support bids and tooling concepts
  • Drive root cause problem solving when things go wrong

You'll need:

  • 5+ years in manufacturing engineering in production or NPI
  • 3+ years leading a technical team
  • Practical composites knowledge and an understanding of AS9100
  • CAD skills, ideally SolidWorks
  • Metallic machining and tooling experience is a real plus on top of the composites knowledge, as are AFP and Six Sigma.

You'll help set how manufacturing engineering works as the business scales internationally.
