A hands-on accounts role leading the day-to-day finance function and providing clear, timely information to support business decisions
Our client is looking for a practical and dependable Finance Manager to take ownership of the finance function and lead a small accounts team. This is a varied role for someone who enjoys improving processes, maintaining strong financial control and turning accurate information into useful insight for the Managing Director and Board.
Duties:
β’ Lead, support and develop the accounts team, setting clear priorities and maintaining a high standard of service.
- Produce accurate monthly management accounts, review results for anomalies and explain key findings to the Managing Director and Board.
- Maintain the integrity of Xero and the ledgers, including bank, petty cash, credit card, balance sheet, WIP, accrual, prepayment and fixed asset reconciliations.
- Manage cash flow, prepare payment runs and authorise payments within agreed limits.
- Generate monthly payroll, including management of commissions, deductions, pensions, staff loans and statutory year-end reporting.
- Prepare and submit VAT and other HMRC returns accurately and on time.
- Ensure invoicing, expenses and supplier payments are completed accurately and to agreed deadlines.
- Work closely with the external accountant and provide clear schedules and supporting information for year-end and audit activity.
- Review relevant supplier contracts and identify sensible opportunities to control cost and reduce waste.
- Ensure the finance team follows company procedures and supports the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and relevant company policies.
Goals:
β’ Monthly management accounts completed by the 15th of the following month.
β’ Monthly invoicing completed by the fifth working day.
β’ Payroll, expenses, VAT and other statutory payments completed accurately and on time.
β’ Xero and supporting schedules kept current, reconciled and ready for review.
β’ The accounts team has clear priorities, effective processes and the support needed to perform well.
