Infrastructure Engineer in Scunthorpe

Overview

In this role you will deliver reliable, secure and high-performing IT infrastructure services across Co-op’s wholesale network. You will be a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure and networking issues, working with colleagues to ensure critical services stay available. The role blends daily operations with projects to improve and modernize infrastructure, including servers, networks, cloud and security. You will join a hybrid, location-spanning team and participate in an on-call rota to support major incidents.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure and networking issues
  Collaborate with the Service Desk to resolve incidents and problems
  Troubleshoot across server, network, cloud and security technologies
  Maintain and improve infrastructure services across offices, depots and sites
  Configure and support server, virtualization and networking environments
  Coordinate with third-party suppliers and technology partners
  Contribute to infrastructure projects and new technology implementations
  Support business continuity and disaster recovery activities, including backups and testing
  Participate in the 24/7 on-call rota and provide after-hours support
  Attend Scunthorpe site within 30 minutes when on call

Key requirements

• Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure across networking, server, cloud and end-user technologies
  Strong networking principles and troubleshooting ability
  Experience with virtualization and core Microsoft technologies
  Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and secure, resilient services
  Analytical, problem-solving mindset with structured investigation approach
  Excellent written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical colleagues
  A flexible on-call availability and a full UK driving licence for site travel
