n exciting new opportunity has arisen within the Clifford health Club and Spa for a Gym and Spa Manager. The Club boasts an impressive 50000 square foot floor space which is located over four floors of a converted mill building. The Club has invested 5 million pounds into refurbishing and extending the gym and spa facilities and now holds a world class spa facility and swimming pool.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop within the leisure industry.
The successful candidate will be responsible for day to day operation of the centre including health and safety, customer care, financial procedures, leading and managing the recreation staff working. The post includes evenings and weekend both sociable and unsociable hours working over 40 hours per week. A First Aid at Work certificate and Pool Plant Operators qualification are essential. The successful candidate should have previous knowledge of the leisure industry. Excellent communication skills, flexibility and a commitment to customer service.
*Responsibilities*
* maintaining high levels of customer care, often with a particular focus on avoiding loss of existing users;
* managing maintenance, repairs and cleaning including pool plant and spa facilities
* Training and supervising staff
* carrying out health and safety checks on the equipment and site;
* handling complaints and incidents, e.g. accidents, emergencies or theft
* delivering some fitness training or coaching in sports activities – often a good way of maintaining contact with customers
* cashing-up and keeping stock records;
* using advanced management information to improve provision and timetables and cope with fluctuations in demand;
* to be the responsible person for ensuring that facilities and services meet health and safety standards set out in the Clubs Health & Safety policies and procedures.
* To ensure that staff communication is effective and staff have the opportunity to develop new ideas and initiatives and remain engaged with the Club.
* Conduct weekly meetings with all staff and contractors to ensure all operations within the Club run smoothly.
* Will ultimately be accountable to the Clubs director
Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of duties and the post-holder may be required to undertake additional tasks by the Clubs Director.
*Working hours*
Typically 40 hours per week and include regular unsocial hours, with early and late shifts and weekend working. Must also be prepared to work additional shifts and to be called in to cover events or staff absences.
