Production Supervisor (Timber Manufacturing) 4 Day WK Wallasey, Merseyside Permanent Position £33k to £35k Monday to Thursday 7:00am to 5:15pm 40 hours paid per week Some Fridays (Not often and classed as overtime) will be expected to be worked depending on workload Role Overview We are seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of a manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising all shop floor activities, ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. A key part of this role is ensuring strict adherence to all manufacturing processes, quality systems and fire door compliance requirements. The Production Supervisor will drive a culture of accountability, organisation and continuous improvement throughout the factory, ensuring work areas remain safe, efficient and well organised at all times. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a strong presence on the shop floor and a commitment to maintaining high standards across production, housekeeping, quality and safety. Essential Skills & Experience * Previous experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment. * Strong leadership and people management skills. * Experience implementing and enforcing production processes and quality standards. * Ability to drive performance whilst maintaining attention to detail. * Strong organisational and problem-solving skills. * Excellent communication skills. * Competent IT skills and experience using production systems. Desirable * Experience within fire door, joinery, doorset or related manufacturing sectors. * Knowledge of fire door certification requirements. * Experience of continuous improvement methodologies such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing or Kaizen. * Health & Safety qualification (IOSH or similar). Key Responsibilities Production Management Lead and supervise all day-to-day shop floor activities. Ensure production schedules are achieved safely, efficiently and on time. Allocate labour and resources effectively to meet customer and business requirements. Monitor productivity and identify opportunities to improve efficiency. Resolve production issues quickly and minimise downtime. Quality & Fire Door Compliance Ensure all fire doors and associated products are manufactured in accordance with company procedures, certification requirements and industry standards. Maintain strict compliance with IFC and internal quality processes. Conduct regular quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process. Ensure production records, traceability documentation and quality checks are completed accurately. Investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Promote a right-first-time culture throughout the factory. Process Control Ensure all established systems, procedures and manufacturing processes are followed consistently. Monitor compliance with standard operating procedures and work instructions. Identify areas where processes can be improved and work with management to implement changes. Support the development and maintenance of production documentation and procedures. Continuous Improvement Drive improvements in factory organisation, housekeeping and workflow. Champion 5S principles and maintain high standards of cleanliness and order throughout the facility. Identify and eliminate waste, inefficiencies and non-value-added activities. Lead shop floor improvement initiatives to increase productivity, quality and safety. Encourage employee involvement in continuous improvement activities. Team Leadership Supervise, motivate and support production employees. Conduct daily production meetings and communicate priorities clearly. Monitor attendance, timekeeping and performance standards. Assist with employee training and development. Promote a positive, professional and accountable working culture. Health & Safety Ensure compliance with all health and safety requirements. Maintain a safe and organised working environment. Conduct routine workplace inspections and address any issues promptly. Support accident investigations and corrective actions where required.
