Our client is seeking an experienced Child Care Solicitor to join their growing team in London. This role will involve representing parents, grandparents, other family members, interveners, and children in a wide range of publicly funded child care matters. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality legal services, supporting vulnerable clients, and contributing to the ongoing development of the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a varied caseload of child care matters including Care Orders, Supervision Orders, Emergency Protection Orders, Placement Orders, Adoption Orders, and Child Arrangement Orders
- Handle Legal Aid applications and CCMS procedures
- Represent parents, grandparents, family members, and children directly or through CAFCASS-appointed Guardians
- Defend allegations involving injury, abuse, or neglect
- Prepare court bundles, witness statements, and supporting documentation
- Attend conferences, hearings, and undertake advocacy where appropriate
- Instruct counsel and liaise with external parties as required
- Provide sensitive and practical advice to vulnerable clients
- Communicate complex legal matters clearly and professionally
- Maintain high standards of client care and service delivery
- Supervise and support junior solicitors, trainees, and paralegals
- Assist with training and development within the department
