About the Role
We’re recruiting for an experienced Quality & Technical Manager to join a well-established business supplying steel and tubular products into the Oil & Gas sector. This is a hands‑on, varied role where you’ll be responsible for ensuring technical compliance, maintaining quality standards and providing technical support across Sales, Operations and external customers. You’ll play a key role in delivering excellent customer service while driving continuous improvement across quality processes. Key Responsibilities
- Ensure technical and quality requirements are correctly reviewed and implemented
- Carry out contract reviews, certification checks and resolve technical or quality-related issues (e.g. NCRs, MRBs, final documentation, ITPs, SMDLs)
- Support Sales teams with technical expertise and ensure customer requirements are clearly understood
- Liaise with mills, suppliers, subcontractors and test houses to ensure compliant product delivery
- Follow up with customers and suppliers to ensure timely resolution of technical matters
- Support customer enquiries, including material selection and specification handling
- Manage technical documentation, certifications and inspection records
- Support internal and external audits (ISO, customer and supplier audits)
- Monitor and improve quality processes and contribute to continuous improvement activities
- Provide technical support and contribute to internal training where required
- Maintain and update technical specifications and ensure compliance
- Use laboratory equipment where required (e.g. hardness testing, visual inspection, PMI)
- Support inspection and documentation activities linked to customer and project requirements
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across Sales, Quality and Operations
- Act responsibly with regard to health, safety and compliance requirements
About You
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Background in metals, materials, engineering or a related field
- Experience in steel, metals or Oil & Gas environment
- Good understanding of technical specifications, quality processes and certification requirements
- Ability to use laboratory equipment where required (e.g. hardness testing, visual inspection, PMI)
- Ability to work effectively across Sales, Operations and Quality
- Materials testing or NDT certifications
- Experience with relevant Oil & Gas standards (e.g. API, ASTM, NORSOK) is an advantage
