We’re looking for a strategic, commercially driven individual, with a strong track record in developing national accounts and unlocking new business opportunities in the Construction & Decoration sector / Wood production. This is a fantastic opportunity to join Our Client, a leading name in surface finishing and abrasive solutions, as a Business Development Manager – Consumer Trade.
As Business Development Manager, you will take ownership of sales growth within the Consumer Trade business area, as well as industrial wood production environments. You’ll play a key role in winning new business, managing key accounts, and supporting the introduction and growth of innovative products across the sector. Working closely with Business Area Managers, you will help deliver national strategy while driving measurable commercial results.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop sales within the Consumer Trade business area.
- Target new business at Key Industrial wood production sites.
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities.
- Deliver activities aligned with the Business Area Plan.
- Support the introduction and growth of new products within the sector.
- Manage Key Accounts at a national and regional level.
Ideal Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of the UK Construction & Decoration sector.
- Strong Understanding of Industrial wood working environments.
- Proven senior sales experience.
- Key Account Management (KAM) skills and experience.
- Experience working with multi-site organisations, senior management stakeholders, and head-office procurement managers.
- Strong administrative, IT, and systems capability.
Physical & Practical Requirements
- The role requires the ability to drive 30,000–40,000 business miles per year.
- Stay away from home 2–3 nights per week on a national basis.
- Deliver presentations to senior management.
- Lift and transport heavy items in and out of company vehicles.
- Staff trade and exhibition stands over consecutive days.
- Handle and demonstrate power tools, abrasives, and polishes.
- Move around customer sites and end-user premises, including construction and industrial environments.
