Main area: Ultrasound; Diagnostic Grade NHS AfC: Band 7. Contract: Permanent. Hours: Full time, part time or flexible working (37.5 hours per week; flexible working considered).
Site: The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Liverpool. Salary: £49,387 - £56,515 per annum pro rata. Closing date: 29/07/2026 23:59.
Main duties of the job
As an autonomous practitioner in a Cancer Diagnostic Centre (CDC) and Cancer Centre, you will develop and deliver a high quality specialist ultrasound service alongside radiologists and physicists. You will participate in peer-review audits and demonstrate knowledge of current legislation and guidelines. You will ensure sound clinical governance of the service, including audit to align with QSI accreditation.

Person specification
Qualifications
- BSc in Radiography or equivalent; Postgraduate qualification in Ultrasound OR Degree in Medical Ultrasound or equivalent
- Registration with HCPC OR Registration with the Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT)
- Member of the Public Voluntary Register of Sonographers (SoR)
Knowledge and Expertise
- Specialist knowledge of ultrasound scanning and its relationship with other imaging modalities
- Record of Ultrasound-related Continuing Professional Development
- Computer-literate
- Excellent working knowledge of hospital PACS, RIS and EPR systems
- Knowledge of specialist oncology and interventional ultrasound procedures
Experience
- Experience in general and Doppler ultrasound
- Experience in providing final reports
- Experience using a wide range of ultrasound equipment
- Dealing with anxious/distressed patients
- Experience in problem solving
- Experience in staff training and supervision
- Experience in ultrasound governance including audit
