An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Prostate Cancer team for an energetic and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist working on a permanent contract over part-time hours. This opportunity will look to support our established Prostate Clinical Team in the ongoing care of those diagnosed with prostate cancer. Working pattern is likely to be Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Main duties of the job:
- The Prostate Clinical Nurse Specialist will play a vital role in the assessment, treatment, and ongoing support of patients diagnosed with prostate cancer and other prostate-related issues.
- They will work closely with consultants, surgeons, and allied health professionals to deliver patient-centred care, education, and symptom management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert clinical care and advice to patients throughout the prostate cancer pathway.
- Coordinate patient care, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up.
- Deliver education and support to patients and their families.
- Act as a key link between patients, their families, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to audit, research, and service development initiatives.
- Audit and data collection of role to provide feedback to Bayer.
Qualifications:
- Registered General Nurse.
- Degree in healthcare related subject.
- Evidence of Masters level learning.
- Post-basic qualification in cancer/palliative care or relevant specialist subject.
- Advanced Communications Skills training or prepared to work towards MSc Clinical Examination.
- Psychological skills training - level 2 or above.
- MSc Research qualification.
Experience:
- Relevant post registration experience in cancer, palliative care or the specialty.
- Experience of teaching.
- In-depth specialist knowledge.
- Experience of multi-professional working.
- Leadership and/or Management experience.
- Evidence of advanced communications skills.
- Ability to lead and influence change.
- HNA training.
- Experience of writing policies and procedures.
- Experience of working as a clinical nurse specialist.
- Experience of audit and research.
- Understanding of Macmillan Cancer Support and its role across the UK.
Knowledge and Expertise:
- In-depth understanding of evidence based practice and ability to critically appraise and implement research findings into practice.
- Extensive knowledge of national standards and policies within specialist field.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
