Main duties of the job:
- The post holder will support the Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance (CMCA) and the Directorate of Research and Innovation (R&I) at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre (CCC) in developing key patient and public involvement initiatives in line with the CMCA’s Engagement Policy and CCC’s Research Strategy.
- Conduct Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) activities.
- Support researchers in understanding the PPI remit and guidance on completing the relevant sections of grant/ethics applications.
- Plan, organise and coordinate PPI-related events.
- Act as the first point of contact for researchers seeking to involve members of the public in research.
- Actively build relationships with under-represented groups in the community.
- Identify PPI opportunities for Cancer Voices members based on their experience and areas of interest.
- Administrate PPI impact evaluations, outcome measures and performance metrics.
- Support regular reports and updates on PPI activities.
- Oversee and administrate payment processes for PPI members.
- Develop high-quality communications to patient, public and partner groups for delivery across a range of channels.
- Work within a multi-programme and project environment, providing support, and advice to ensure the successful delivery and evaluation of CCC and CMCA Research programmes and projects.
Personal specification:
Qualifications:- Educated to relevant degree level or equivalent proven practical experience.
- Previous experience of clinical research.
- Track record of working with patients and the public, preferably in a healthcare or public sector setting.
- Experience in developing engaging and effective programmes or campaigns to increase engagement.
- Understanding of the role that clinical research plays in improving the health of the nation.
- Previous experience of developing research activities into projects.
- Working with diverse communities and different minority groups, understanding of the statutory requirements for equality and diversity.
- Experience of working in a healthcare environment.
- Experience in leading meetings and working groups.
