Monday to Friday shifts week 1 0800 - 1600 and week 2 1000 - 1800, 7.5 hours each day working on a rota basis across CCC-Liverpool and CCC-Paddington. May include weekends and bank holidays on an ad hoc basis.

The Patient Services Clerk has a varied role which spans a number of different work areas. The tasks below describe the type of duties appropriate for the role; however, depending on where the post holder is placed, not all of the tasks may be carried out and there may be additional duties specific to that work area expected and within the remit of the role.

  • To provide a professional, friendly and effective virtual reception service directly to patients and relatives.
  • Liaise with volunteer staff to ensure that visitors are escorted and supported.

Main duties of the job:

The Administrative Services Department is offering an opportunity to join our friendly and supportive team as a Patient Services Clerk. As a Patient Services Clerk within the Admin Services Team, you will play a key role in supporting patients during their inpatient ward stays and outpatient appointments and provide administrative support to the clinical teams.

Our work is complex, interesting, specialised and driven by tight deadlines. As such, it is essential that you have good organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure. A comprehensive induction programme provides new staff with the basic framework they need to undertake their role but it is essential that you have previous office experience ideally in an NHS environment.

You will have a good standard of education including English and Maths, excellent computer skills and experience of competently handling virtual appointments and telephone enquiries.

Job responsibilities:

Person Specification:

  • Good standard of education or equivalent work-based experience.
  • Must be computer literate e.g. ECDL or equivalent experience.
  • NVQ2 or Basic Level of Certificate of Technical Competence (Institute of Health Records and Information Management) or equivalent.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of a range of administration systems acquired through experience and qualification.
  • Confidentiality and Data Protection legislation.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in an office environment.
  • Previous experience in a front of house environment.
  • Administrative experience within an NHS organisation.
