Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a qualified pharmacy technician to join the Digital Pharmacy Team and help us deliver a quality digital medicines service to the trust. As part of the digital pharmacy team, this post holder will be using their experience in pharmacy to maintain drug catalogues, labels and worksheets within the EPR. You will be supported to develop into the role with an experienced team to support and be given opportunities to support project work in trust.
Key to the role is engagement with stakeholders within the trust and its subsidiary pharmacy and also system suppliers to ensure the system is developed and maintained appropriately.
Main duties of the job
- Liaise with stakeholders in Pharmacy to build and maintain the Digital Pharmacy systems that includes drug catalogues, stock management, manufacturing worksheets and medicines sets to a high standard.
- Support the digital pharmacy team with the piloting and testing of Digital Pharmacy developments and upgrades prior to going live.
- Work closely with the Lead Informatics Pharmacy Technician and other stakeholders to ensure the Digital Pharmacy projects are delivered as per agreed project plans.
- Support the Lead Informatics Pharmacy Technician with the development of robust policies, standard operating procedures and work instructions pertaining to the use of Digital Pharmacy systems.
- Assist in the development of EPMA Business Continuity Planning.
- Respond to and advise on user system queries and problems and taking relevant action.

Person Specification
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as UK Pharmacy Technician
- Level 3 QCF Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (NVQ) or equivalent
- Level 3 QCF Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences (BTEC) or equivalent
- Change management or project management qualification e.g. PRINCE2 Practitioner
- Member of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians, UK (APTUK)
Knowledge and Expertise
- Knowledge of prescribing and dispensing processes in hospitals for both inpatient and outpatients.
- Knowledge of configuration of IT clinical systems with respect to Pharmacy and EPMA.
- Relevant knowledge in oncology.
Experience
- Post registration experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital setting.
- Experience of working with nursing and medical staff and other health care professionals, patients and the public.
- Practical knowledge and experience in an aseptic setting is highly desirable.
- Configuration of Systemic Anticancer Therapy including aseptic compounding in the EPR system.
- Experience of reporting functionality within EPR system(s).
- Must understand the requirements of Data Protection Act, Computer Misuse Act, and IM&T systems security policy and be aware of the requirements of Information Governance, Clinical Governance and Caldicott.
- Experience of working on projects.
- Experience of procedure writing.
- Experience of training staff.
