This is a fantastic opportunity to provide support for secondary aged students who require a more specialist provision than mainstream, but who do not need a special school. The resource base has its own distinct character, where students are able to thrive in a nurturing environment yet still have the chance to experience all the facilities and opportunities as their mainstream peers.

Working Hours: Part time (30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year, includes Teacher Training Days). Required: September 2026

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be passionate about supporting pupils with learning difficulties, speech, language and communication needs, and be able to work with small groups of students requiring SEND support. You will work with other members of staff within the Resource Base and the wider SEND team to help students progress in their learning, and will make a real difference to their school lives.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a passion for delivering high quality and exciting opportunities for children and supporting them in their development;
  • Is committed to supporting the teaching of pupils with complex cognition and learning needs;
  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with a variety of pupils, staff and parents;
  • Enjoys working with young people and can develop good working relationships with them;
  • Is self-motivated, dedicated and consistent;
  • Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
  • Has a positive and flexible attitude;
  • Is a strong team player who can use their own initiative;
  • Understands and is sympathetic to the needs of young people;
  • Has experience of supporting student’s learning;
  • Has a current First Aid or is prepared to undertake training;
  • Has experience working with pupils with SEND (advantageous).

We can offer the successful candidate:

  • Training opportunities;
  • The opportunity to further your career;
  • Supportive line management and networking opportunities with other Resource Bases within the Trust;
  • A caring and dynamic team of colleagues;
  • A commitment to achieving the best for all of our pupils and staff.
