Clarendon Academy is looking for a skilled, personable and motivated Inclusion and Catch‑Up Teacher to join our team. This is a wonderful opportunity to work across year groups, subjects and provisions to support students who need additional intervention or support in catching up on missed essentials. There will be an emphasis on English and Maths within this role.

We are a thriving co‑educational, non‑denominational secondary school and sixth form, educating young people between the ages of 11 and 18. Located in the bustling town of Trowbridge, Wiltshire, we pride ourselves on being a centre of excellence where young, enthusiastic children enter in Year 7 and leave us at the end of Year 13 as fully rounded young adults. Our staff aim for every lesson, every day, to be exceptional and work tirelessly to ensure students feel that they belong and can achieve their dreams.

As an Inclusion and Catch‑Up Teacher, you must be willing to work with students of all abilities and profiles across years 7‑11, and be prepared to work flexibly to support students with a variety of needs. In this role, you will work across a range of provisions including those that work to support and promote improved attendance, those that support pupils in improving their behaviour and resilience, and working to support students with SEN needs.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is committed to becoming a truly excellent teacher;
  • Has a passion for supporting students in improving their Maths and English skills and knowledge, helping them to progress in their learning;
  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with a variety of pupils, staff and parents;
  • Has good all‑round knowledge of the secondary curriculum – knowledge of subjects English and Mathematics is advantageous;
  • Enjoys working with young people, can develop good working relationships with them and can challenge students to achieve their best;
  • Is self‑motivated, dedicated and consistent;
  • Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
  • Has a positive and empathetic attitude;
  • Is a strong team player who can use their own initiative and contribute positively to the school;
  • Understands and is sympathetic to the needs of young people, including their social, emotional and mental wellbeing;
  • Has some experience in supporting students with SEND / additional needs in their learning and / or is willing to undertake training in this area (advantageous).
