This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in preparing accurate, competitive and commercially robust estimates across a range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.Working closely with our Operational, Commercial, Procurement, Planning and Bid Teams, you'll lead the estimating process on projects involving highways, earthworks, drainage, structures, utilities, public realm, enabling works, reinstatement and associated civil engineering activities.Here are some of the activities you will be involved with:Reviewing tender documents, drawings, specifications, pricing schedules and client requirements.Attending site visits where required to fully understand project scope, constraints and delivery requirements.Preparing detailed first-principle estimates for self-delivered civil engineering and infrastructure projects.Working closely with Operational, Commercial and Planning Teams to develop production rates, resource requirements, construction methodologies and programme assumptions.Coordinating supplier and subcontractor enquiries, reviewing quotations and ensuring commercially robust and competitive pricing.Identifying tender risks, opportunities and key assumptions, including site constraints, traffic management, ground conditions, temporary works, stakeholder interfaces, design maturity and programme considerations.Preparing tender documentation, pricing schedules, assumptions and supporting reports for internal governance and client submission.Supporting tender adjudications, responding to client clarifications and ensuring successful handover to delivery teams.Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior estimators and estimating assistants where appropriate.We are keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:A minimum of 5–10 years estimating experience within the civil engineering, infrastructure or related construction sectors, with a proven track record of pricing complex projects for main contractors, subcontractors or specialist civil engineering businesses.You'll have extensive experience producing first-principle estimates for self-delivered works and be confident pricing activities such as highways, earthworks, drainage, structures, utilities, reinstatement, enabling works and associated civil engineering packages.You'll have a strong understanding of methods of measurement, construction methodologies and NEC contracts, with the commercial awareness to identify project risks and develop accurate, competitive tender submissions.
Experience working within collaborative bid teams is essential, alongside the ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and client requirements.We're looking for someone with strong Excel skills and experience using estimating software such as Conquest, Causeway, Candy or similar.
Experience using take-off software, AutoCAD or project planning tools would be advantageous.Most importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys working collaboratively, taking ownership of complex tenders and supporting the development of others within the estimating team.Due to the nature of the role a full UK driving licence is required.Our CompanyEvery day we work smarter, greener and use our imaginations.Our purpose at Clancy is simple
