We have an opportunity for a Senior Buyer/Procurement Manager to join our team, supporting delivery across our water sector projects. This is a key role within our Supply Chain function, focused on the effective procurement of materials and services, ensuring best value and supporting successful project delivery.
You will work closely with operational, commercial and estimating teams, playing an important part from early engagement through to delivery, ensuring procurement activities are aligned to programme, cost and quality requirements.
Here are some of the activities you will be involved in:
- Working with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and support project delivery
- Supporting pre-construction activities, working with estimating teams to inform pricing and procurement strategies
- Attending project start-up meetings, providing guidance from a procurement perspective
- Developing and implementing procurement strategies aligned to contract and wider business needs
- Engaging with and managing suppliers and subcontractors, including tendering and negotiation
- Ensuring technical, commercial and regulatory requirements are captured and met
- Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships, including performance monitoring through KPIs
- Monitoring supply chain performance, including financial stability and risk
- Supporting category management activities across the business
- Tracking procurement performance against budgets and reporting on cost positions
- Ensuring compliance with client frameworks and internal processes
- Providing support and guidance to operational teams on materials, specifications and related requirements
We would love to hear from you if you have significant experience working in a senior buyer or procurement role within a commercially focused environment, ideally within utilities, civil engineering or infrastructure. You will have a strong understanding of supply chain management, market trends and supplier engagement, along with good working knowledge of contract law. You will be a confident communicator, able to build relationships and negotiate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are essential, alongside the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. CIPS qualification (or working towards) is preferred, or equivalent experience. You will also be comfortable using a range of systems and technology to support procurement activity.
