We have an opportunity for an experienced Civils Team Leader to join our team supporting the delivery of essential infrastructure works across the South West Water contract, covering Devon and Cornwall.

This is a hands‑on role where you will lead a small civils team, typically consisting of two operatives, carrying out a variety of excavation, reinstatement and infrastructure activities. You'll play a key role in ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the high standards expected by both Clancy and South West Water.

  • Here are some of the activities you will be involved with
  • Leading a small civils team undertaking a range of civil engineering works
  • Carrying out excavations and reinstatements in line with programme requirements
  • Operating plant and machinery, including excavators (10t and above), dumpers and rollers
  • Installing and working within temporary works, including trench sheets and support frames
  • Undertaking deep excavation and confined space activities
  • Constructing manholes and carrying out associated concrete, benching and finishing works
  • Completing brickwork, blockwork and slab construction activities
  • Supporting mains laying and water infrastructure projects
  • Ensuring all works are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures and industry standards
  • Completing site documentation and supporting compliance requirements
  • Working closely with supervisors, operational teams and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of works

We would love to hear from you if

You have proven experience carrying out civil engineering works within the utilities, water or infrastructure sectors and are confident leading a small team on site. Experience in excavations, temporary works, manhole construction, concrete works and mains laying is essential.

You will hold relevant industry accreditations including NRSWA, CSCS and Slinger/Signaller, along with experience operating excavators, dumpers and rollers. Experience of Butt Fusion welding, confined spaces and deep excavations would be highly advantageous.

A strong commitment to health and safety is essential, together with the ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively and maintain high standards of workmanship in a busy operational environment.

A First Aid qualification and full UK driving licence are essential, as travel across Devon and Cornwall will form part of the role.
