Contractor Competency Authorising Officer £70,000 – £90,000 DOE Plus car and package Faraday Office Park Basingstoke We are currently seeking a Contractor Competency Authorising Officer (CCAO) to join our dynamic Energy team. This permanent role involves ensuring the competency of contractor personnel within the electrical distribution field, specifically for SSEN works ranging from 11kV to 132kV. Responsibilities Assessing individuals against defined competency criteria, including technical knowledge, experience, and understanding of Distribution Safety Rules. Conducting structured assessments using interviews, scenario questioning, and evidence review. Verifying candidate evidence such as training records, authorisations, logbooks, and experience records. Producing and signing a Contractor Competence Assurance Statement for each candidate. Maintaining contractor competency matrices and role profiles, ensuring reassessment where necessary. Operating independently from programme and commercial pressures to ensure consistency and fairness in competence decisions.
