We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Construction Manager to join our team working on the Thames Water framework, delivering critical water infrastructure works across the region. This role plays a key part in the successful delivery of mains renewal and rehabilitation programmes, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and in line with contractual and regulatory requirements.
Reporting to the Senior Contracts Manager, you will lead the coordination, mobilisation and delivery of projects, overseeing multiple sites and driving performance across safety, quality, programme and cost.
Activities
- Managing the delivery of water infrastructure programmes, including mains renewal and rehabilitation works
- Coordinating enquiries, estimates and mobilisation activities for new and existing schemes
- Planning, monitoring and driving works to achieve programme milestones and performance targets
- Working closely with planners to develop and maintain programmes, identifying risks and constraints early
- Leading site and project teams, promoting a strong safety culture and high-performance environment
- Ensuring full compliance with Thames Water standards, CDM regulations and environmental requirements
- Managing subcontractors and supply chain partners to deliver quality, productivity and value for money
- Monitoring progress, managing risk and implementing effective mitigation strategies
- Providing clear and accurate reporting on progress, costs, forecasts and performance
- Building strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders and internal teams
- Driving continuous improvement and sharing best practice across the framework
We would love to hear from you if
- You have strong experience managing projects within the utilities sector, with a background in water or gas infrastructure and a solid understanding of mains renewal and rehabilitation works.
- You will be confident delivering programmes of work within a regulated environment and ideally have experience working on frameworks such as Thames Water.
- You will be an effective leader, capable of driving team performance, building a positive culture and maintaining high standards across safety, quality and delivery.
- Strong planning and organisational skills are essential, particularly when working with planners to develop and manage programmes.
- You will bring good commercial awareness, with experience managing budgets, forecasts and change, alongside the ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and strong communication skills are key.
- A full UK manual driving licence is essential.
- A relevant construction or civil engineering qualification and SMSTS (or equivalent) are desirable.
