We Do What We Say – that’s why we need people like you to help us deliver on our promises. People who enjoy getting things done!
We’re looking for an Assistant Estimator to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in estimating and commercial support, while contributing to the successful delivery of essential infrastructure projects across the UK.
The Role:
As an Assistant Estimator, you’ll be supporting the Estimating Team with the preparation of cost estimates and tender submissions for a variety of civils and utilities projects. You’ll work closely with engineers, bid managers, and commercial colleagues to ensure our proposals are accurate, competitive, and well-presented.
Here are some of the activities you will be involved with…
- Assisting with the preparation and submission of cost estimates for tender opportunities.
- Analysing project drawings, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate quantity take-offs.
- Sourcing and gathering supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Supporting cost planning activities and identifying potential risks and opportunities.
- Helping to maintain the estimating database and updating historical cost information.
- Attending site visits and internal meetings to support the tender process.
- Ensuring compliance with internal governance processes and client requirements.
We would love to hear from you if…
You have a keen eye for detail, good numerical skills, and the confidence to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Ideally, you’ll have some previous experience in an estimating or commercial support role, or you may be a graduate with a construction-related qualification looking to get into estimating.
You’ll be proficient in the use of Excel and comfortable using other Microsoft Office applications. You’ll also be able to read and understand construction drawings and specifications, with a logical and methodical approach to take-offs and quantity reviews. Previous site experience and/or a good understanding of the built environment would be highly beneficial, helping you connect the numbers to real-world delivery.
Strong communication and organisation skills are essential, and you’ll be keen to learn from experienced estimators and commercial professionals. Experience within the civils, utilities, or infrastructure sector would be an advantage, but we’re open to transferable skills from other areas of construction.
