Beach Baker are delighted to recruit a dynamic and knowledgeable Rural Adviser / Surveyor to join their East regional team, based near Newmarket.

About the Role

You’ll be at the heart of CLA’s work in the East region where your responsibilities will include:

  • Advising members on land ownership, planning, rural business, and infrastructure issues.
  • Leading on compulsory purchase and infrastructure projects.
  • Attending agricultural shows and rural events to represent the CLA and engage with members.
  • Promoting the CLA’s work and building strong relationships across the rural community.
  • Collaborating with national teams on property, legal, tax, and land use matters.
  • Contributing to policy development and representing members at stakeholder meetings.

What We\’re Looking For

We’re seeking candidates who:

  • Have experience in rural land management, including tenancies, planning, diversification, and renewables.
  • Understand infrastructure projects and compulsory purchase (training available).
  • Hold RICS and/or CAAV qualifications (preferred).
  • Are confident communicators with excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Are enthusiastic, adaptable, and passionate about rural affairs.
  • Enjoy working with people and building professional relationships.
  • Are comfortable attending public events and promoting organisational values.
  • Based on the scenic Stetchworth Estate near Newmarket.
  • Flexible working available (up to 2 days/week), with core office days on Mondays and Wednesdays.
  • Travel across the East region required – pool car provided.
  • Join a friendly, passionate team of eight, and be part of a wider CLA network of over 100 professionals across England and Wales.
