We are seeking 2x friendly, organised, and professional GP Receptionists to join our busy and supportive team at a GP surgery in the heart of Cardiff. This role is essential in ensuring patients receive a warm welcome, timely assistance, and an excellent standard of care from the moment they contact or arrive at the practice.
Main duties of the job
- Greeting patients and visitors in a professional and compassionate manner
- Answering telephone calls, handling enquiries, and booking appointments
- Processing prescriptions, test results, and medical records
- Supporting GPs, clinical staff and management with admin tasks
- Managing patient confidentiality in line with NHS and GDPR guidelines
- Using clinical systems (Vision, Emis/OPTUM)
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a receptionist or admin role (NHS or healthcare preferred but not essential)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work under pressure and handle sensitive situations calmly
- Competent in using computers and scheduling systems
- Reliable, punctual, and a team player
- Flexible and willing to adapt to a changing environment
About us
We are a long-standing and well-established GP practice located in the Roath area, close to Cardiff city centre. Our surgery serves a diverse and mixed demographic and is easily accessible by public transport. Our team includes experienced GPs supported by a wide-ranging clinical and administrative staff. This includes Pharmacists, Mental Health Nurses, Physiotherapists, Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Phlebotomists, as well as a dedicated Administrative team, Receptionists, and our Practice Manager. Together, we provide a high standard of patient care and a supportive working environment. Our practice is also a member of the South Eastern Cluster, a collaborative network of 8 local practices working together to improve patient care and service delivery.
