The City Recruiter are looking for a Costs Draftsman to join our client's well-established law firm in Manchester. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate and effective costs advice and drafting to a diverse client base.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing cost advice to clients and drafting bills of costs, points of reply, and schedules of costs
- Preparing and negotiating costs budgets for litigation and advising on the cost implications of case strategy
- Conducting detailed cost assessments and negotiating settlements with opposing solicitors and counsel
- Conducting and preparing documentation for detailed assessments and making representations to the court as required
- Maintaining and updating cost management systems, including time recording and cost management software
Experience:
- Costs Lawyer with at least 3 years of experience in a costs drafting role
- Strong knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and experience in the preparation of bills of costs
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a heavy workload
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
