We are currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to join a refurbishment project at a school in Leicester, starting from 20th June. This is an initial 6-week contract overseeing a full refurbishment and fit-out programme within a live educational environment. Upon successful completion of the project, there is a strong opportunity to move directly onto further projects with the contractor.
The works involve the refurbishment and upgrade of school facilities, including:
- Internal fit-out works.
- Plastering and decoration packages.
- Painting and finishing works.
- Roof repair and maintenance works.
- Joinery and carpentry packages.
- General refurbishment and improvement works across the school estate.
You will be responsible for managing subcontractors on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day management of site activities.
- Coordinating subcontractors and trades on site.
- Monitoring health and safety compliance.
- Ensuring works are completed to programme.
- Conducting site inspections and quality checks.
- Liaising with the client, project team, and subcontractors.
- Maintaining site records and reporting progress.
- Managing deliveries, logistics, and site operations.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Site Manager on refurbishment, fit-out, or building projects.
- Experience managing multiple trades and subcontractors.
- Strong health and safety awareness.
- SMSTS certification.
- First Aid qualification.
- CSCS Card.
- Enhanced DBS Certificate (essential).
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
